Well today was decision day about a cruise. After much debate we decided…. yes…it was a go. We had to go to a travel agency to book as they would not let us register as Canadians online because we were already in the US. Anyway, we found a travel agency and although we were not able to book our first choice we found a cruise to our liking. We leave on Saturday for 7 days to the Eastern Caribbean on the Norwegian Epic, a new ship in 2010. The agent was able to get a really good last minute deal for us so we took it. I am nervous about cruising, but decided I could not let fear stop me from going. Roger is already into his to do list. I think I will just wait and panic at the end.
Today was quiet and after a long walk on the beach this morning we flitted away the time having coffee, breakfast and a chat with the couple in the next villa. They booked in the same day we did so we have had a chance to get to know them, a very nice couple from Michigan, who farmed until they retired last year. They are good down to earth people who have a happy outlook on life. Good people to meet on vacation.
Tonight I swam in the pool for a while and finally convinced Roger to come in for a dip. The water was very warm and as the night air cooled it felt even warmer. The Florida folk think we are nuts to be swimming on a “winter” evening as they feel the temperature is way too cold. It was 23° C out…too funny.
Time for a late evening walk before bed. We had better go a different direction from last night so we don’t pass the chocolate and ice-cream shop. They make their own chocolate and fudge right there and as well as their own ice-cream. It is to die for…omg…so we have to walk the other way. The slabs of fudge remind me of Scotland and how they sold it by the pound. All those yummy chocolates behind the glass are so tempting…..so yes …best walk the other way.
Cheers!
Cheers!
A cruise! Now I'm really jealous. Retirement is sounding better and better every day. We're suppose to get freezing rain tomorrow. Talk about a crazy winter.
ReplyDeleteI'm very excited to hear you are finally taking a cruise! I heard from one of my book club friends that Herman and Susan (Comrie) are leaving on a Caribbean cruise from Ft.L ! They are travelling on Princess cruiseline the Ruby Princess. (p.s.. Susan is down there now, so if you see a lady that looks like Susan - its probably her - and knowing you guys, you'll probably see her lol)
ReplyDeleteWe've been wishing we were there, and now the cruise OMG!!
